MLB

Last night the White Sox pulled the ol’ switcheroo and moved up Gavin Floyd to start in place of Bartolo Colon on Monday. Now, if you had placed a wager on the White Sox before the pitching change you may (or may not) be surprised to see that your money would have been refunded prior to first pitch and that bet would have been voided. For some, that would have been an unwelcome discovery this morning since Chicago pulled out a 5-2 win.

Now, the reason that would have happened is because you posted your wager as “listed pitchers” through your online site. Most – if not all – online books have abetting option with which you can place your bet as “Action”, which means you are placing the bet on a team regardless of who starts on the mound. Or you can place your bet as “Listed Pitchers”, which means that your bet is only valid if the pitcher that is listed by the book throws the first pitch for your team.

It is Doc’s Sports policy to honor all bets as “Listed Pitchers” and that’s what we recommend wagering. This protects you from late scratches or surprise pitching changes. For more info click here.

I will say that I support “Listed Pitchers” with most plays, but not all. I’m a systems player. So several of my plays are based on the teams and matchups and not necessarily based on the starters. However, I will admit that playing “Listed Pitchers” is going to help you and work in your favor more times than it is going to screw you. The most important factor in any MLB wager is who is on the bump. If that changes your bet changes. So be sure to mark your wagers as listed pitchers unless it is clearly denoted that we’re working a system play.
