Trouble in NYC Paradise

2 big series involving the New York teams. The New York Mets took on the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees took on the Boston Red Sox. Neither New York team fared very well. In fact, the Yankees are in the middle of a meltdown. But first, let’s talk about the Mets.

The Mets now trail the Phillies by 4 games. They just lost the series to the Phillies and slowly they’re losing ground in the NL East. The Mets had a chance to close the gap in the division. Instead, they’ve allowed the Phillies to extend the lead.

But the real problem in New York belongs to the Yankees. More specifically, it rests with Joe Girardi. The Yankees have now lost all 8 games against the Red Sox this year. And now the Yankees trail the Red Sox in the American League East by 2 games. But the huge, and nearly unthinkable issue, here is that the Yankees are 0-8 against the Red Sox.

The media has always loved to build this series up. They over play it to a point where it’s sickening. And now, with the match-up being so lopsided, this rivalry is far from a rivalry.

Of course, the Yankees are still only 2 games back. But if they can’t win when they have Sabathia on the mound, and they have a 2 run lead late, then when will they win? Maybe never. Seriously.

But this falls on Joe Girardi. And he might be in trouble once again. The fans hate losing like this to the hated Red Sox. And you now the Steinbrenners don’t like it any better.

Now, it will be interesting to see how the Yankees bounce back. And you know who they play this weekend? The Mets. Let’s see which New York teams bounces back the best.
